The family-run Monopol Hotel was built in the 19th century and was used as the local dance hall. It still has its original wooden balconies and typical central courtyard, filled with palm trees and plants.

Hotel Monopol is a 5-minute walk from the sea and less than 15 minutes’ walk from Playa Jardin Beach. Just 150 metres away, the lively Plaza del Charco is full of bars and restaurants. The hotel also has its own restaurant, 2 bars and a spacious lounge in the courtyard.

What was the highlight of Hotel Monopol Tenerife

Absolutly great in beautiful town. We will defenetly be back one day.

We stayed at recent renewed studio at top floor, were you find huge terrace with sunbeds and umbrellas, and a view to the see and over the nice swimming pool area. Very clean and well equipped, including Nespresso machine that we loved. The location is excellent and we loved all the musicians playing on the street and we could enjoy from our balcany, which was always sunny. The view to the mountains were stunning as well as the view to the main walking street in town. The church bells were also nice. Free car park by the harbour in 5 minutes walk, we always found an excellent parking and no problem to walk with the luggage this short distance. The breakfast offered all we needed.

It would be nice to have the sauna open by 10:00 and closed around 19:00/20:00, instead of opening hours from 12:00-18:00

Lovely old hotel with excellent staff.

Wonderful staff, wonderful old-style building with plenty of character and charm. Excellent position, right in the pedestrianised heart of the old town.

WiFi. Poor reception in our room and in the patio area.

Ideal one night stopover

Location very convenient near the historic centre and the harbour. Room much nicer than expected for the price. Generous check in and check out times. I only had coffee and a banana fro breakfast, both were fine.

Really pleasant hotel with good sized room plus terrace and comfy bed. Located in the most attractive part of town. Receptiinists very helpful and super breakfast buffer

We fell in love with the Monopol but not for everyone

Architecturally and historically stunning, the Monopol enjoys the best location in Puerto de la Cruz on the edge of the old town by the port with a wide of choice of excellent restaurants on the doorstep. At the front its terrace opens onto a leafy square where buskers play in the evenings and where you can enjoy a drink and tapas. To the back – looking out to sea - are a number of terraces for sunbathing, a good sized swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. The hotel is family owned and the staff were friendly and helpful

The décor, fittings and furnishings are twenty years out of date. The standard room was very basic, thin bed linens, an awful bathroom with a bath only a child could fit in and an underpowered over-bath shower. The pool and jacuzzi could do with the thermostats turned up – we chose not to swim. Breakfast would have been improved by a selection of fresh fruit and coffee/tea more than luke warm.

Great location

Great central location, it’s decent and the inside seated area with the plants is very beautiful and impressive.

While the room was clean, it did have a damp/mouldy smell - particularly in the bathroom. I understand it’s an old building but the rooms could do with an update.

Very traditional. Loved the wooden interior patio.

It would be difficult to write in a short sentence to sum up this very enjoyable stay I experienced

This is a clean, welcoming old style hotel. Not glitz and glam and sterile like so many are these days. For anyone who enjoys old style class, this is the place for you. It has heart , and it is obvious that it is a family run business because of the pride and attention to detail shown, right down to the fresh flowers they put on the door steps each day welcoming you in.. This is an affordable hotel, that offers excellent quality, a wonderful location , a nice adjoining restaurant directly on a beautiful vibrant square directly opposite an impressive church. I look forward to visiting it again . Penelope Gibson.

I was in room 31 and the green light in that room was quite bright. I covered it with my top which worked to hide it.

Relaxing stay in a friendly hotel located in the centre of town

Great location in the centre of town, lovely old style building with central plant filled atrium in a pleasant traffic free square. Breakfast was varied and substantial and the tapas bar outside was good.

Good

The location is very good. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The interior of the hotel is very pretty. Breakfast is very good.

The furnishings are a bit tired. As requested we had a walk-in shower, but the surface was very slippery. In the shower I could not move the shower attachment, it was corroded. The wardrobe door kept slipping off it's track.

Wonderful

Great location. Hotel with history on the edge of the old town (wooden balconies and an indoor atrium). Our room had a view of church (the church bells did not disturb us). The room was clean. Breakfast was ok. Hotel is a 5-minute walk from the large parking lot.

Amazing location

Amazing location. Stunning courtyard. Lovely staff.

Bedrooms are dated, but this didn't affect our stay. The hotel is great.
